Yes. The Academic Advising Center assists students who have not chosen a major with identifying major and career options, choosing appropriate courses, clarifying life and educational goals and utilizing university resources.

Yes. Students who are enrolled in nine or more credit hours on the DeKalb campus are automatically billed for the NIU Student Health Insurance Plan.
The Northwestern Medicine Student Health Center at Northern Illinois University provides outpatient health care services to eligible NIU students, similar to an immediate care facility or your primary care physician’s office.
The City of DeKalb Public Transit system serves campus and the surrounding communities. Students ride for free with their NIU OneCard. The system offers additional transportation options like the Huskie Safe Line for late-night travel and a $4 shuttle to the Elburn Metra station that runs multiple times each week day to coincide with the Metra schedule.
Yes. Parking permits are required on campus and can be purchased online.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket office at the NIU Convocation Center. Students get in to NIU home athletic events free with their NIU OneCard.
