Our Northern Ambassadors
Explore the NIU Campus with our Northern Ambassadors
Northern Ambassadors (NAs) are the official tour guides of the university. Working under the supervision of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, our NAs create a welcoming, inclusive, and high-quality campus visit experience for all guests of NIU. They’ll give you an in-depth, personal and authentic tour of the university, highlighting how you can build an educational experience all your own.
During the 75-minute small-group tours, our NAs share their first-hand experiences of how NIU, with a wide variety of academic programs, more than 200 student organizations and many opportunities for hands-on learning, offers you the resources that only a large university can. And, they’ll show you how, like a small college, NIU gives you personal attention and guidance from faculty, advisors and staff to help you along the way.
Why Take a Tour With Our Northern Ambassadors?
Our Northern Ambassadors play an important role in helping prospective students and their families explore the NIU campus. As current students, they provide firsthand insights into academic programs, student life, housing, dining, and extracurricular activities. Our NAs often share personal experiences, making campus visits more authentic and relatable. They also answer questions about NIU traditions, resources, and opportunities for success to help prospective Huskies decide if NIU is the right fit for them. We offer a variety of options for prospective students and families to visit the campus.
