Note: These rates do not include student health insurance of $1,378.00 per semester. This is a mandatory fee for students who do not otherwise have coverage. Students interested in Computer Science, Engineering and Nursing majors will have a higher per-hour and full-time tuition rate.

With our truth-in-tuition policy, all first-time, degree-seeking undergraduate U.S. citizens and permanent resident students that graduated from a U.S. high school are eligible for the same fixed tuition rate for four continuous years.

NIU Invests in You

Scholarship Consideration

When you apply to NIU by our priority deadline, we’ll automatically consider you for a renewable merit scholarship, a form of financial aid you don’t have to pay back.

For eligible students, our AIM HIGH Huskie Pledge program guarantees that tuition and general fee costs will be met by grants and/or scholarships for their first year at NIU and potentially beyond. 

Just for Rockford Residents

Our Rockford Promise program is for qualifying graduates of Rockford high schools. It covers tuition and general fees for up to four years.
